Artist's Description
This painting is inspired by the 68th Running Aiken Trials, where Stormy the Cat, the dark horse in the scene, and stablemate Firepole from the famous Dogwood Stables, drew my attention and my imagination. The scene of the horses bursting from the start was such a challenge to paint, but the reward was at the finish line! Firepole won over Stormy the Cat by half a length.
Stormy is a descendant of the greatest racehorse, Secretariat!

The original painting is 24x30 on gallery wrap canvas, so the scene continues off the front.
