Artist's Description
This painting is the second in my series on the theme of classic books, with the intention of encouraging today's readers to pursue books with worthwhile, timeless and universal themes. Bram Stoker's Dracula is such a book. Though this masterpiece has inspired many spin-offs, it is inimitable in its original form. It has strong Christian and moral themes of good versus evil and self sacrifice, but also has a very interesting perspective on the subject of modernity versus tradition. The original 12x12 inch square painting is on gallery wrapped canvas, which I think is a clever way to juxtapose the perspective of how this shape is now considered nontraditional and modern, yet the word "square" is used as a term to mock tradition.
