Artist's Description
"Champion" was inspired by the arresting pose of a knight in a jousting event at the annual Renaissance Fair in Charlotte, NC. The original scene included fencing and crowds in the arena behind the heroic figure, so I cleared away the distractions and invented the field of poppies in the scene to represent passion. "Champion" was recently selected for a Special Recognition Award in the Figurative Exhibition with Light, Space, and Time Galleries.
The original pastel painting is in a pewter frame that picks up the tones in the armor. Contact the artist for purchasing the original.
