Artist's Description
There's no place like Charleston, SC, and no place to stay like the graceful Two Meeting Street Inn! My husband and I have been fortunate enough to be guests here twice, and for our 33rd wedding anniversary last week, we stayed in the Spell Room. It's the 2nd story suite with the glorious shell architecture under the curved windows overlooking Meeting Street. I decided to paint my interpretation of the famous view seen by tourists on walks and carriage rides, but recent Hurricane Dorian had changed the beloved view by snapping off the top of the palm tree. So, I put the crown back on for my painting and hope the tree will recover!
Across from this Inn is the Gazebo in White Point Gardens Park, which is often featured as a scene in my novels, the Painter Place Saga. The latest new release is Landmark, and it occurs in 1960, when Two Meeting Street Inn was simply known as "The Guest House."
