After my first trip to explore the quaint little town called Southport, NC, I was planning a trip back to paint plein air and started a YouTube series of demos on a painting of sailboats in the harbor. It was also time for me to paint a Christmas card scene, so I decided to combine my own photos with a photo I requested of holiday decor from Duck, Duck Goose. Imagine my surprise and delight when they sent one with snow! I never imagined that they had enough snow to coat the small town streets, and I simply added the idea in my mix of my reference photo and their snow scene. My photo captured a man with his dog, and I changed him up to be another man waiting patiently with his dog while "mama" shopped for unique locally crafted gifts in Duck, Duck, Goose.
